CHARACTER STUFF
Name: Ravirn
Aliases: Raven
Canon: Webmage
Role: Superhero and/or tech support
Species: Demigod 2.5
Gender: Male
Age: N/A? Mid 20s, or at least he acts like it. He's immortal, and while he seems young, it's never quite clear just how old he truly is.
Appearance: In-canon, Ravirn is described as having 'long black hair, fine features, and pale white skin', and has the features of his fellows that were the root of the legends of elves. We're just going to make his PB Deniz Akdeniz and be done with it. Said PB sadly does not have the 'swirling orbs of chaos' that are his eyes, but whatever.
He usually wears black and green, his 'House Colors'; more often than not, a black leather trench, leather pants and combat boots. He also usually carries a backpack with him, in which his Webgoblin Melchior hangs out in when off-duty.
It's worth noting that with all the scrapes he's gotten in to, Ravirn by now is used to wearing kelvar woven in with his outfits- including that backpack. He's had too many close calls to be comfortable without some sort of armor.

Origin story:
Ravirn is the product of two lines; the House of Lachesis- and the line of the Thalia, the muse of comedic poetry. In essence, he is the end product of Fate and Slapstick, and it certainly has impacted in life in more ways than one.

It's important to note that Ravirn is not from this world; his home word is very much like this, but not only that, it's a network of worlds and parallel lands. Magical DeLocus, Mweb. Some places - such as Mount Olympus and Hades - have their one and onlys, but there are multiple instances of Earth and MIT, for example. There's 'Garbage Fairie', a world that looks like nothing so much as a giant scrapyard mixed with toadstools, trash, and somehow beautiful mixtures of nature and wreckage. For ease, we'll narrow his home down to this; modern-day magic fueled by the powers of Olympus and all that comes with it.

The Olympians and their lines are generally immortal; yes, it is possible to kill them, but it either wouldn't be a good idea for the main folks or takes a bit of doing for them all, period. Ravirn's mother, for example, lived through the Renaissance, and appears to be stuck back in it fashionwise.

Ravirn himself seems quite fitting for the modern day; his leaning towards technology and computers was noticed at an early age, and encouraged so that he could assist with security for the Houses of Fate. All told, though, Ravirn enjoyed breaking security more than he did constructing it; an insatiable curiosity got him in to trouble more than once, but never more when he learned of a plot by the Fate Atropos, meant to remove free will from humans in general. The Fates are at the strong end of Order, and though Ravirn was aghast, through his attempts to reveal such he discovered that this was in their purview.

To be fair, he learned it from the exact opposite- Chaos, Discord, Eris. The unofficial god of Hackers, who quickly became one of Ravirn's oddest allies, but an ally nonetheless. Long story short, through shenanigans (in which he learned that she was responsible for giving his Webgoblin, Melchior, free will as well [which, in turn, was in her purview - sabotaging Order]) he managed to get himself kicked out of his House, his name withdrawn, but then given another - Raven. The Trickster.

But before he really had time to think deep about that, he had to get his girlfriend's Webgoblin out of Hades.

In true Ravirn fashion, it mucked up- this time, an attempt to help by Persephone turned out to be her trying to sabotage Necessity, the mother of all computers [and the Highest of all Powers], in a desperate effort to escape her prison. Through a set of events that had him blamed for the damage, the Furies sent after to kill him, discovering he had his own Magical DeLocus with a satyr servant who had the worst taste in ugly Hawaiian shirts but was damn good at mixing drinks- long story short, he had to get back in to Hades, and only through helping a regretful-but-unapologetic Persephone finish her escape was he able to stabilizing the collapsing Mweb.

He did die, though. Or, more accurately, cease to exist. He threw himself in to primal Chaos to escape Hades, and for there simply existed and didn't exist until managing to pull himself back in to creation by the sound of both his girlfriend, but one of the Furies to whom he had developed a relationship as well.

The side effect? Having drawn himself from Chaos as had his ancestors, the Titans, he was now as much the Raven as he was Ravirn, and all told he didn't like it.

He wouldn't like Nemesis coming after him either, though. A concept that had taken the form of a cousin [after which he, ah, had to deal with back during the whole Atropos-free will-thing], Nemesis hunted him to begin her revenge against a world that had wronged her, and thus had to pay. Long story on that short, Necessity still had damage and from that Nemesis had been able to escape his/her bonds [the Power identified as female, the shape she wore was male], and s/he fully intended on finishing off Necessity after dealing with Ravirn. As it turned out, though, this was in part started by Zeus himself- wanting to encourage him to fix Necessity, he thought that all he needed was a little encouragement.

It took a little while for Ravirn to catch on, but eventually he did, and bargained with Zeus to assist in bringing a badly-battered Melchior back to life before setting off to fix the damage. Then he went to fix Necessity, with his new Fury girlfriend(?????). Then Nemesis came. Then there was this whole thing with a sword made of reality-cutting stuffs, parallel universes, shit breaking and fixing itself at the very same time-

-long story short (god are you tired of hearing that yet, I swear I'm trying to condense all this), Ravirn was able to take full admin control of Necessity and therefore reality and lock Nemesis away once again, as well as at least stabilizing the master computer so it wasn't. Quite. As falling apart as rapidly as it had been.

He'd return from time to time - not always with permission - to try and do more. Stumbling upon a room that seemed to be made of abacuses, though, was not in the plan. Nor was somehow triggering a command that ended up not only giving off a magical backlash- but sending him [and Melchior] completely out of the familiar Mweb's server, in to a world that played by different rules, different laws, and if not for the fact that it also seemed to be in the 21st century he'd have been basically shit out of luck.

As it is, though, he's able to get himself right in to tech support while he tries to figure out what's going on...and how to get home.

Personality:
It's impossible to describe Ravirn without also describing Raven, the Trickster. The two are one and the same. One wears the other's face. Ravirn is a snarky, wisecracking fun-loving, in-it-for-the-mischief young man who's been to Hades and back- and laughs because that's how he deals with stress. That's how he deals with fear. But we're getting ahead of ourselves, so let's start solid.

At his core, Ravirn is, as mentioned, a fun-loving guy who loves a challenge. He love testing limits. He's constantly trying to figure out how far he can go, how much he can push, but he doesn't mean anything terribly bad by any of that. There's really no malicious intent within him; sure, at times, he can get the selfish got you! thrill, but there's no outright 'I am going to hurt you because I feel like it' sensibility in him. Ravirn is solidly on the forces of Good, or so he'd tell you- because where he comes from, everything's in Life/Death, Order/Chaos.

And Ravirn is firmly on the Chaotic scale of things.

It's not so much that he means to be; his beginnings are in Order, and he's got a lot of respect for that whole thing. It's just...he's always been a bit rebellious, shall we say. Moldbreaker. His natural inclination is not to follow the rules, but to test them- again, not out of malicious intent, but just because he has a need to test limits. The fact that the mantle of the Trickster has been dropped on him only kicks this up to eleven; he practically can't not react in a manner that pushes said limits, whether or not he's aware of it.

And while the Trickster/Raven part of him does define him now- he is aware of it, or at least knows it can come in to play. He knows it magnifies his personality traits, but if he tries, he can hold it back and act in a different manner. It's just...hard, to, and definitely not his first inclination. The Raven always urges him down the path of most resistance, and for the most part, Ravirn's okay with that.

More often than not, though, he gets in trouble. Which is usually okay because that's just par for the course in his life but sometimes, he gets deep, and then we learn how Ravirn acts under stress; by kicking his wit-o-meter up to a hundred and ten percent. About to die? What's to lose, bullshitting!...on the other hand, if Ravirn is not sure he's going to die, if there's a chance he can survive but an equal chance he can die...it's that kind of uncertainty that has him shutting up and getting serious, because it's that kind of uncertainty he can't manipulate to his advantage. And that scares him.

Make no mistake; though he's flippant and will have you think he's fearless, Ravirn does get scared. He does, in fact, have the whole scope of feelings. He's just...pretty damn good at hiding them, and/or covering it all with bravado. And the Trickster? Doesn't exactly let him linger on self-doubt for too long (something for which he's quite thankful), so he moves on from that relatively quickly. This sometimes means that he doesn't learn his lesson the first (or second, or third, or fifth) time as well, but, eh. That part of him isn't so much Raven as his natural state.

His natural state happens to be, as one might guess- also quite loyal to his friends. He'll tease them and play with them, but he's ultimately got their backs as much as anything, and he's willing to risk quite a lot for his girlfriend for those he cares about. Putting himself in danger? No problem. Putting himself out in the cold for a bit? If they need it, sure. Coming in as the cavalry if someone's messing with them? Definitely.

I have no idea how to end this section other than saying he's a relatively 'normal' Urban Fantasy Male Protagonist Good Guy. Go team Raven?

Differences from canon: We're going to be pulling him straight from canon, AU'ing near the beginning of MythOS. It seemed as good a point as any, just instead of a world with Nordic gods, he's going in to a place with superheroes!

Power level:
A-level hacker
----at least back home; he's still damn good here, but not so much dread-inspiring because at home he had a ~reputation~
C-level Power
----very much still getting the hang of it all. yes, he's stood against Powers like Hades and Nemesis- but we're going off the idea that magic works a bit differently here, and he's having to adjust. to say nothing of the fact that he's still terrified of them.

Powers:

HACKING
We're putting this on actual Powers for a specific reason; while Ravirn can certainly hack at just a keyboard, with Melchior's help he can also do a bit more- originally, throwing his soul in to the mweb to directly confront what he's dealing with.

Here, the mweb doesn't exist. But he's still able to get in to Cyberspace, it's just...he doesn't have as much familiarity with it as he used to. He can still affect it, certainly, still get in to someone's servers himself- but the rules are slightly different.

Yes, a stupid Ravirn could die in cyberspace, if his code was outright deleted or otherwise expunged. But for the purposes of the setting, if all he experiences is a disconnect- he'll simply shunt back in to his body like a stretched-then-released rubberband, and not without some nausea.

He has both more and less control over his surroundings as he did back home- different codebase, so to speak, but 0100101 still means 0100101. He'll need to change his hacking/coding style a bit, and with a lot of the things he has readied designed for the systems back home...he's essentially lost a lot of his arsenal. He's hacking/coding from scratch, and learning as he goes. But they say the best way to learn is by immersion, and if nothing else he's been hanging out in the code a lot recently as he tries to understand what he's gotten himself in to.

MAGIC/CODESPELLS
As a descendant of the Titans themselves, Ravirn naturally has a bit of power behind him- the kind that allows him to change the world around him. In the past, this was done with complicated spells and rituals- nowadays [at least, back home] it's done through coding still-complicated spells and casting them that way. Same end result- different methodology.

For the most part, Ravirn 'casts' by whistling- or having Melchior, his webgoblin, cast for him (as Melchior is far, far better at it than he is). This can take anywhere from seconds to full-on minutes to accomplish, depending on how complicated the spell is; the important thing to note is that he's essentially translating code to sound to that which affects reality.

An example of a 'basic' codespell is the kind he uses to round his pointed ears and at least attempt to disguise his [formerly slitted, now swirling] eyes. An example of a 'complicated' sort is Jurassic Gas, which takes minutes to prep up to a specific set of triggers- and then promptly turns gasoline in to its previous form, which is to dinosaurs. Awesome. And, mind, those are just the kind he's stuck with coding; there is so much more you can do.

Given [lots of] time, resources, and maybe a place for some research- Ravirn could code just about anything. But a lot of his code primarily helps him in hacking...even if, to be fair, that sort of hacking is geared towards the type back home [complete with dragons. yes. dragons. he was eaten by one at one point, sort of].

RAVEN ASPECT
So ever since getting kicked out of the Houses of Fate Ravirn has been renamed Raven, and encouraged to 'fly high'. He found out later that though it was Clotho, one of the Fates, who said these words to him- it was actually Necessity working through her to give him a new name and purpose. And, apparently, Aspect.

Ravirn - Raven - has become a Power in to himself, capital 'P' intended.

Probably the biggest visual impact of his is the fact that he can basically turn in to a giant raven. It is painful and it is agonizing, reaching in to primordial chaos and using it to change himself. But- hey. It works, and it's actually his preferred form for navigating chaos, those few times when he's thrown in to it headfirst. There's something about being enveloped in the stuff that just makes him act more natural, and whether he likes it or not, he is, naturally, Raven.

And that brings up another point- he's shaped by it as much as he shapes it. So where before Ravirn was a bit of a wisecracker prankster- now, he's solidified in such, not so much bound as naturally taking the more interesting road when presented to him. Naturally mouthing off when it's probably better off keeping his mouth shut. Naturally willing to be reckless, reaching for small chances for big payoffs- but at the same time, somehow coming through most of these for the better.

That may in part be due to how he goes through Chaos with so much ease. Part of his nature appears to let him not so much control Chaos, but use it to his advantage; what may be random to others may be just a matter of him knowing exactly when/where to go. A quantum-based maze whose paths are open and closed all at once? Nope, everything's open because he wants it to be and is going through it now thank you. Fairy rings who would otherwise throw someone in to chaos and one of countless paths? Next stop, the one he wants it to be. And so on and so forth.

Still, all told, Raven is a relatively minor Power in the Greek Pantheon- especially when compared to the others. But he's showing that just because he's minor, doesn't mean he shouldn't be taken seriously. Even if he rarely is so...

MELCHIOR
Not technically his power, but worth noting nonetheless- Melchior is a webgoblin who serves as Ravirn's partner in crime, sidekick, laptop, and ultimately is his right hand and someone he would do anything for. Personality wise, he's a sarcastic little varmint who often refers to Ravirn as 'Boss' and certainly will give him as much shit as he feels like at a given time- but who also values Ravirn, in turn, and has his back one way or another (even if it's arguing with him about something he feels is a terrible idea, and then finally just going with it because Ravirn won't be swayed).

Melchior himself can;
-shapeshift from laptop to webgoblin form as necessary
----transform some of himself further [ports, cables/connectors, etc] to interface with recognizable technology
-serve as a 'base' for Ravirn to launch himself in to the mweb [or the web in general] or just Melchior's own server for some heavy coding/hacking
-cast coded spells [mostly Ravirn's code, he's only so good at coming up with things on his own] with far more expertise than Ravirn
-fully utilize his own free will, as such was built/snuck in to his original specs courtesy of Eris, aka Discord

It's also worth nothing that at this point, Melchior's hardware is actually quantum-based. That's right, he's a quantum-based computer/laptop/webgoblin, which usually would be way too much power to put in to a small little guy like him- but, hey, when you're Ravirn, you make that shit happen if it needs to happen.

Team affiliation: The Enclave [if allowed]. They're magic practitioners, and Ravirn's brand of magic may be mixed with technology but it's at least a little familiar to him- I can easily see him reaching out/being reached out too after a few spellhacks and at least having a loose affiliation with them.

First person sample:
okay, so, now that we've established some people are a Very Long Long way from home (in whatever definition that is, time, space, etc)- some quick questions for you all. misery loves company and all that.
